STERG and its affiliated research group, the Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Studies (CRSES), had the pleasure of attending the Engineering Open Day event on Saturday, 20 April.

A stall was established inside the Mechanical and Mechatronic Structures Laboratory, and showcased various past projects, such as a Fresnel lens, a small-scale heliostat field, a receiver tube, and a miniature PV setup.

Several of the research groups’ master’s and PhD students took turns welcoming visitors, offering insights into the research groups, and discussing the possibilities for solar research. Open Day 2024 was a resounding success, piquing the curiosity of parents and their children, whilst revealing the capabilities of both research groups.

STERG extends its heartfelt appreciation to Dr Adam Venter, and all involved in ensuring Open Day 2024 was a success.
