The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) is offering bursaries to students interested in pursuing a career in the energy sectors that fall within its regulatory mandate.

NERSA is offering bursaries to students who wish to study towards a Masters or PhD Degree. Bursaries are awarded for fields of study that are relevant to NERSA’s regulatory mandate; namely, the regulation of the electricity, piped-gas and petroleum pipelines industries. The bursary will cover registration, tuition, accommodation and prescribed books/a laptop.

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Below are the minimum criteria to apply for the bursary. The applicant must:

  • be a South African citizen with a valid identity document (ID);
  • be admitted to and be in possession of an admission letter from a South African university or university of technology that is established or registered in terms of the laws of the Republic of South Africa for a Masters and PhD Degree;
  • be a previously disadvantaged South African;
  • have an excellent academic record and demonstrate potential for academic success;
  • not be a holder of any other bursary scheme; and
  • have proven financial need.
