The Physics department, in collaboration with the Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Studies and the Solar Thermal Energy Research Group organised an outreach/awareness event on the 15th of April 2016 on the main campus of Stellenbosch University. The main display was a 12 square-meter parabolic dish which was used to cook soup, while STERG members used a smaller solar cooker to braai boerewors for students on campus. An article about the event was also published on the Stellenbosch University news page.
The event created an opportunity for us to share the principles of concentrating solar power with the rest of Stellenbosch University and a fun day in the sun was had by all!
